FAQs

What is the WayFinder News mission?

We are an independent and impartial company whose mission is to empower everyone who follows the news to make informed choices that result in a less bias and more accurate understanding of our world.

Why are you doing this?

In our daily scroll, we consume content without clarity—snacking on bite-sized headlines from questionable sources, rarely stopping to question what we’ve actually taken in.

Misinformation is everywhere, making it harder than ever to know what’s real.

Algorithms silently shape the way we see the world, offering only a narrow slice of reality instead of the full picture.

Our Goal

We want to put you in control and provide access to the full picture of what’s really going on.
We do this by removing filter bubbles and giving you the ability to select your news sources and see multiple sides of a story.

Does WayFinder News publish any articles?

No. WayFinder is an news aggregator of existing news coverage. We provide you with access to a large variety of news sources.

Where does the news come from?

We have curated a set of well-known news sources that represent a balanced amount of Left, CL, Center, CR and Right leaning biases. We give our readers the ability to control their daily news feed by selecting the sources they want to use.

Does WayFinder News rate news sources?

No. WayFinder News has partnered with a third party that specializes in identifying the political bias and factual credibility of thousands of news sources.

Where do news source ratings come from?

WayFinder News references the bias ratings of an independent news evaluation organization called Media Bias Fact Check. MBFC determines the bias and factual accuracy of thousands of media sources. MBFC utilizes a weighted scoring system to evaluate political, social and journalistic dimensions.

What if I disagree with some of these ratings?

Bias is inherently subjective and while there is no universally accepted scientific formula to measure it, MBFC has been refining their methodology for over the past decade. As a result, they have become a proven and trusted authority on bias and credibility. Examples include their use at major educational institutions for research by MIT and University of Michigan and their perfect score of 100/100 by NewsGuard, a peer in the news rating industry who also rates the credibility of media sources.

What is Your Focus?

Your Focus is a way to track the amount of time spent reading articles from different political biases.

Why is Your Focus useful?

Readers can:

Realize they may perceive the news in certain ways because of where they spend their time.

Determine if they are spending too much time in certain biased areas which can create a limited view of issues and events.

Decide to change their focus by selecting a more balanced set of news sources.
